…of all places in the world to visit, you chose Nigeria”




INT. AIRPORT LOBBY, HAWAII -NOON
(The Airport buzzes with different kinds of activities, people of different sex, age and body colour walk up and down the lobby. A fair tall young black woman that appears to be in her mid-40s stands in the middle of this chaos and she looks lost. A mixture of a sadness and confusion engulf her facial expression as she looks into the air. A loud announcement from the speaker jolts her back to reality)

SPEAKER: Atlantic flight 3056 to Nigeria will now begin boarding. Please have your boarding 
passes and passport ready for inspection at the gate.

(She sighs deeply drags her luggage to join the line when suddenly a young white woman in her 20s bumps into her. The black woman falls down alongside with the white woman, the white woman stands up fast and starts to apologize)

WHITE WOMAN: I am very sorry, I am so sorry. Due to my excitement to visit Nigeria, I lost track of everything

BLACK WOMAN: (smiling through her obvious pain) will you help lift me up
(The white woman quickly lift her up)

WHITE WOMAN: are you okay? You look like you are in pain

BLACK WOMAN: compared to the pain have been through in my life, this is little (she looks down at the Vacation pamphlet in the white woman’s hand) Nigeria ehn?

WHITE WOMAN: (smiling) yes, am going there on a vacation

BLACK WOMAN: (looks surprise) of all places in the world to visit, you chose Nigeria

WHITE WOMAN: I had a Nigerian nanny when I was little, she was like a mother to me because she virtually raised me to be the woman I am today

BLACK WOMAN: was?

WHITE WOMAN: she died… a year ago

BLACK WOMAN: I am so sorry for your loss

WHITE WOMAN: she told me a lot of things about Nigeria,

BLACK WOMAN: she did?

WHITE WOMAN: yes, especially about the beautiful bar beach in Nigeria. From the accent, I think you are a Nigerian, have you visited the beach before

BLACK WOMAN: the beach……the beach

WHITE WOMAN: yes, have you had any happy moment on the beach

BLACK WOMAN: happy…..happy moment (she looks lost again)

FLASHBACK
EXT. BAR BEACH- LATE MORNING
(The sun goes down with more and more people leaving the beach but at a corner of a beach, there is a tall black man in his 40s and a little girl of about nine years still playing)

Girl: catch me if you can daddy? (The girl starts running)

Man: Little Barbie, you need to be careful not to fall

Girl: (she stops and turns to her father, then shouts in a loud voice) daddy, your tricks won’t work this time (she continue running, the man smiles and runs after her)

BACK TO PRESENT
 The white woman shakes her

WHITE WOMAN:  where were you?

BLACK WOMAN: what?

WHITE WOMAN: I asked if you have been to the beach in Nigeria. Have you had happy moments on it like my nanny?

BLACK WOMAN:  I…

SPEAKER: Atlantic flight 3056 to Nigeria will now begin boarding. Please have your boarding passes and passport ready for inspection at the gate.

WHITE WOMAN: that is my ride, have a stress free journey (she leaves)

BLACK WOMAN: happy moments……

FLASHBACK
EXT. BAR BEACH- DUSK
The nine year girls kneels beside her daddy’s body crying as she shakes the corpse


BACK TO PRESENT
The black woman closes her eyes in pain with her body shaking
