On the road from Lagos 2: The Doctor

INT. STAIRWAY-ALMOST DAWN
FEMI, a tall, fair, skinny headed man in his early 40s walks down the stairs hurriedly with some paper in his hand. Two seconds later, RACHEL, a slim, fair, tall young lady walks down the stairs with him in a very angry mood. Femi walks to table where there is a briefcase and he puts the papers into it

RACHEL
I can’t believe you are doing this

FEMI
I don’t have time for your drama

RACHEL
What we need is time with each other, you leaving is not going to fix us

Femi keeps putting some documents into the brief case on the table without giving her response. Rachel’s expression softens and she puts her hands around him. Femi stiffens his body
RACHEL
Honey, please don’t go. I really want us to work

FEMI
Get your hands off me

She tightens her hands, Femi slaps her hands off in annoyance and he faces her with annoyance.

FEMI
I said I don’t have time for your drama

RACHEL
I thought you said you have forgiven me, isn’t that the reason why you came back

FEMI
I am trying to but each time I see you, everything you did to me just floods back and it hurts more, each time

RACHEL
And I have been saying sorry for over 2 years now

FEMI
Turns out your sorry can’t fix this

He zips his bag and start to walk away but she stops him

RACHEL
I am ready to do anything to take us back to how we were before, please stay. The kids are on holiday and they expect that you will be around to play with them, they need you, please don’t punish them for what I did

FEMI
Oh leave the kids out of this, they are my children and I will be the perfect father they need

RACHEL
Perfect father you say? Have you acted like a father to Adam? He is almost two and you have never carried him once, you don’t even know what his eyes looks like

She holds his hand

RACHEL (CONT'D)
I know it is my fault but for Adam’s sake, please don’t go

FEMI
I told you, I will be the perfect father my children need and when I say children, I mean the three of them

RACHEL
When will that happen?

FEMI
When am back from Zaria, until then be the perfect mother for
them

RACHEL
And me?

FEMI
I want to forgive you, really I want to but I can’t just bring myself to forgive you. You hurt me Rachel, you really hurt me

Tears gathers in her eyes

RACHEL
Femi!

FEMI
Zaria is a long place to go and I need to get here before night falls, please leave my way

He sees her in a shocking state and he gently pushes her away. He walks to the door and leaves
