INT. A PRISON- AFTERNOON

BANKOLE, JO and another older woman sits in the visiting room waiting patiently

MADAM BABADE, a tall, caramel skin colour woman in her sixties looks at the door continuously tapping her feet nervously.

The door opens and IMADE KING comes in. Imade, a young, woman of average height in her forties smiles when she sees Bankole.

IMADE

Bankole, I heard about the case

BANKOLE

Sister

He hugs his sister tight, then removes himself from her hug

IMADE

You did well

BANKOLE

Imade look at Jo

IMADE

Jo?

Hello, Sister Imade

Imade goes to sit in front of her mother

IMADE

Hello, Maami

Madam Bankole looks Imade with a sad and disappointing look. Imade sees this look and she sighs deeply

IMADE

MAMA BANKOLE

Bankole senses the direction his mom is going to and he rushes to save his sister from scolding

BANKOLE

She shakes her head to him and he stands still. At this point, tears starts to gather in Madam Babade’s eyes

MAMA BABADE

Ori mi ti fe daru (I am about to go crazy) because I have been racking my brain, looking for reasons why you will want to do this to yourself. You had everything Imade, gbogbo nnkan to obinrin le fe (Everything a woman could want) you had it all. You had a good man, a man who loved you so much and will gladly lay down his life for you. At this point, tears tear their way down Imade’s eyes as she watch her mother sob bitterly. Bankole signals to Jo and Jo walks to Madam Babade

She pulls Madam Babade up and they both walk out of the visiting room. Bankole sits in front of his sister

BANKOLE

I am so sorry sister, I didn’t know she was going to do that

Imade rubs tears away from her eyes

IMADE

It is fine, it is not like I didn’t deserve that. Her disappointment in me is understandable….

BANKOLE

This might be the biggest case of my life and the biggest trouble you can ever be, neither of us can’t spiral down the dark road

She nods slowly as cleans her tears away from her face

IMADE

BANKOLE

IMADE

BANKOLE

The chances of me getting you acquitted is as low as 10 percent

With the jury trial, we have 10 percent. With Nigeria’s regular way of justice, you are going to jail. That was what I told you first

Imade nods gently in acceptance

BANKOLE

I am sorry if I am been harsh but you asked for the truth

BANKOLE

The plan is get the jury to see the real you, the woman I grew up with and not the one circumstance made you out to be

Imade nods in acceptance again

Bankole rolls his eyes

BANKOLE

He pulls Imade up with his hands and hugs her

BANKOLE
