EXT. A RESTAURANT IN IBADAN- EVENING

Imade gently alights from her car, she waves to the driver to leave as she walks to the front of the restaurant. Getting to the entrance of the restaurant, she sees a 37 year old Wemimo who is setting the table

Few minutes of just watching him, she sees her 3 year old identical twins, JOWALOJU ‘JOWA’ AND TAWALORE ‘TAWA’ KING running after each other. One of the girls runs to her father and tries hide from her twin. Wemimo trapped between the girls plays with them while trying to prevent one from getting the other

Imade looks at her family with a blank expression before she dips her hand into her hand bag and brings out her phone. She presses some buttons on the phone before she put it against her ear. Wemimo’s voice blast through the phone

WEMIMO

Hey, where are you? The girls are waiting

IMADE

About that, can I rain check on the dinner? I don’t feel good

She sees the smile on his face fade the moment she said the last sentence.

WEMIMO

Really?

IMADE

Yes

At that moment, one of her daughters sees her through the window

TAWA

Imadeeeee

Imade’s face widen in shock, Wemimo looks at his daughter and then traces the direction she is looking where he finds Imade with a phone to his ear. The two girls runs out of the restaurant and crashes into Imade. She had to hold unto them to prevent herself from falling. After some kisses and hugs, she follows them into the restaurant where a baffled Wemimo waits

WEMIMO

I thought you said you were not feeling fine

IMADE

I am not

She sits down

WEMIMO

We can do dinner another day

IMADE

I am already here, we can do that now

He looks at her in silence then he sigh deeply. He helps his girls into their small seats and takes a seat next to them. He places their food before them as Imade removes the lid on her plate. She looks around and sees no one

IMADE

Where is everybody?

WEMIMO

I sent them home, I wanted to have a quiet dinner with my family

IMADE

You sent them home, is this another one of your restaurant?

WEMIMO

Our restaurant, Imade and it will be officially opened next week

She shakes her head as she unwraps her cutlery

IMADE

Will you ever be satisfied with what you have achieved?

He looks at her, looking offended, then he ignores her

WEMIMO

I saw your interview, you did good

IMADE

Well, I was prepped. I knew what to say

WEMIMO

And thank you for handling that tech issue well, we are not yet ready to disclose that to the public

IMADE

(Looks up in surprise) That was true?

He gives her a blank expression as he hands his daughters plastic spoons. She becomes upset at this

IMADE

You had me lie to the public

WEMIMO

You didn’t lie, Imade, you told them that information regarding that will be passed through appropriate channels which it will

Jowa starts to cough and he hastily put a small cup of water in her little mouth, gently rubbing her back with his other hand. After the cough subsides, he cleans the water that spilled from her mouth with tissue paper

IMADE

Why was I not informed?

With his full focus on his kids, he answers her question

WEMIMO

You signed the proposal, Imade

IMADE

You know I don’t read proposal

WEMIMO

That… (Looks up at her) is not my problem

He turns his focus back to his kids, cleaning whatever spill out of their little mouths and ensuring that they eat

IMADE

You could have said something

WEMIMO

If you come to board meeting, you would have heard about it

IMADE

I do come to board meetings

WEMIMO

Five minutes to the end of the meeting is not an attendance

Wemimo opens the sauce pot and added more sauce to his kids’ plates

IMADE

(Raises her voice) Please for goodness sake, look at me when I am talking to you

Jowa who is right next to Imade flinches at the intensity of her mother’s voice

WEMIMO

(Snaps) This is not a discussion we are going to have in front of our kids, so pick your fork and eat

Imade scoffs but picks her fork anyway. She starts to play with her food. Wemimo notices Tawa not eating

WEMIMO

Tawa, eat

TAWA

(In a soft baby voice) Is Imade okay?

IMADE

(Drops her fork in annoyance) I can’t believe my own kids are calling me Imade

Wemimo sigh lightly and talks to Tawa

WEMIMO

We talked about this, it is mummy

JOWA

Are you okay, Mummy?

Imade ignores them and picks her fork up again

WEMIMO

Imade!

IMADE

What?

He gestures towards the girls

WEMIMO

They won’t eat unless you tell them you are okay

Looking at her girls

IMADE

(In a stern voice) Miss Jowaloju, Miss Tawalore, I am okay, now eat your food

The girls looks at their father who glares at their mother

WEMIMO

They are little kids, you can’t transfer your aggression to them

Drops the fork in her hand angrily and then pushes the plate of food she hasn’t eaten farther away from her on the table

IMADE

(Pissed off) I have lost my appetite, I will be outside when you are ready to go

She stands up and walks away to Wemimo’s dismay

WEMIMO

Imade!

She ignores him and walks out of the restaurant

JOWA

(With a concern voice) Is Imade okay?

WEMIMO

Mummy, Mummy not Imade. The next time I hear you call her Imade, I won’t buy you ice cream

JOWA

Is mummy okay?

WEMIMO

She will be, eat
