EPISODE 11

 One second

INT. KINGS’S MANOR – IN THE DEATH OF THE NIGHT

Imade uncomfortably turns left and right repeatedly as she tries to catch some sleep but to no avail. She turns on her other side again looking into the back of her husband

She sighs deeply after few seconds of staring at his back before she raises from the bed. Putting her feet into the slipper, she grabs her robe and put it on as she stands up from the bed. She makes her way out of her bedroom into the long hallway. About a minute later, she descends down a long staircase to the basement of her house

After few minutes of walking round the first floor, she descends down a few stairs into a really dark basement. She hits the light switch lightly and a dim pink light comes on to show a small theatre room with comfy cushions

She picks up the remote resting on the small glass table right in the middle of the theatre room and presses a button before she sinks into the soft rug

She looks into the air as she waits for the flat screen to come on

ANN

Oh my God! He is walking

Imade looks up to see a younger Ann at their old house. A soft smile engulfs Imade’s face when she sees her young son walking staggeredly to Ann who stretches her hands to him

ANN

(In excitement) I can’t believe he is walking already

The smile on her face gently fades as sadness crawls in. Sad tears rolls down her eyes as she watch her friend swerves her son around in happiness. More tears finds its way down her eyes as Wemi’s giggles gets louder

INT. KING’S MANOR- MORNING

Imade opens her eyes as the tug on her nightgown got stronger. The first thing she sees as the eyes starts to clears out is Jowa’s baby face

IMADE

Jowaloju!

The little girl opens her scattered teeth to her mother who sits up. The little girl hugs her mother as she raise but Imade suddenly hold the girl away from body with a wider eyebrow

IMADE

(In a loud, harsh voice) How did you get down here?

Jowa starts to cry on hearing her mother’s loud voice and at that moment, a young nanny in her thirties races downstairs into the basement

YOUNG NANNY

I am so sorry, ma

Imade stands up with Jowa furiously

IMADE

How did she get down here?

YOUNG NANNY

I took my eyes off her for a second

IMADE

(Bluntly) You are paid to look after her, you are not allowed to take your eyes off her for a second

YOUNG NANNY

I am so sorry, ma, I know she was not suppose to disturb you

IMADE

You think I am angry that she disturbed me, she could have fallen down the stairs and hurt herself

YOUNG NANNY

I am sorry ma, it won’t happen again

Imade looks at her daughter who is still wailing

IMADE

Are you hurt?

The young girl continues to cry

IMADE

(Harshly) I asked you if you are hurt

The little girl’s wail got louder, then Imade turns her around looking for any wound on her body

As Imade bends to her small height, the little girl moves away from her mother but Imade forcefully hold her closer, making the little girl look at her

IMADE

Jowaloju, you and your sister cannot come here, it is not safe. You could have fallen down the stairs and hurt yourself, do you hear me?

Her wail gets louder with her eyes getting redder

IMADE

Stop crying

The wailing got louder to Imade’s annoyance

IMADE

(In a very harsh voice) I said stop crying, you are going to hurt your throat

The nanny quickly carries Jowa from her mother’s grasp and then starts to pet her the moment the little girl is in her arms.

IMADE

This happens again, you are fired

YOUNG NANNY

It won’t happen again

IMADE

Tawalore?

YOUNG NANNY

Preparing for school

Imade waves the nanny away nonchalantly

IMADE

You can go

The nanny leaves hurriedly with the little girl while Imade looks around to see the flat screen switched off. She sigh lightly and goes upstairs
