INT. IMADE’S HOUSE- DAWN

Imade looks up in confusion as Aperry’s boys bring Aunty Bebii’s stuffs upstairs, then she see Wemimo come up

IMADE

Hey! Aunty Bebii?

IMADE

She is sleeping

The boys all go back downstairs after saying goodbye to Wemimo

IMADE

Where did you go and what are those?

WEMIMO

Aunty Bebii will be staying with us for a while

She won’t want that

I will make her stay

I guess it is a good thing Maami’s last tenant left, Bankole and I will clean her room today

She just went to bed with Bankole

WEMIMO

Go back to bed and I will look after her

Imade nods and goes into their room while Wemimo goes to the living room where Aunty Bebii lies on a bed which was placed on the floor for her. She looks at him when she hears footstep

WEMIMO

Did I wake you?

AUNTY BEBII

I am in too much pain to sleep

Wemimo sit next to her on the bed

WEMIMO

I am so sorry

AUNTY BEBII

(In a low voice) Wemimo

WEMIMO

Yes

AUNTY BEBII

Please can you ask Ann to be my lawyer?

WEMIMO

Your lawyer?

AUNTY BEBII

I want a divorce

Wemimo smile brightly

Ann is not a lawyer yet but she will get you the best one

AUNTY BEBII

I don’t know if he will let me go but I have to try

No matter the personal gain a person gets from a relationship, the moment it becomes abusive either physically, mentally or emotionally, it is not worth it. Please if you are in any kind of abusive relationship, please get out while you still can and when I mean when you still can, I mean while you are still alive. It is not going to be easy but when you think of the one life you have, I think it is enough to keep you energetic to keep fighting for yourself

Please wherever you are reading this story, give a standing ovation for Aunty Bebii for having the courage to get out and ask for help. What she did took gut that so many people wish they have and If you are in a position to help people like Aunty Bebii, please let stretch our hands to help them. There are better ways to help than to resort to violence like Wemimo did.
