Secretary: (sees Rere walking towards him) I thought the President asked you leave Congo
Rere: (smiling) I have till 10 pm today
Secretary: alright
Rere: when is the President coming back?
Secretary: I don’t know and frankly, I doubt if he will see you
Rere: I have to try and apologize for been rude to him. My country is at fault, he didn’t deserve been spoken to that way
Secretary: you should hang around and when he is back, I will call you
Rere: (smiling) alright, thank you (Rere walk and sits at a corner. She waits patiently for like a hour, then her phone rings) hey Roti
Roti: you sound down
Rere: that is because I am
Roti: I guess it didn’t go well
Rere: it might have if I didn’t blown it
Roti: what happened?
Rere: I insulted the President
Roti: you did what? (Laughing)
Rere: it is not funny Roti
Roti: I know, am sorry. It is not like you to blow your chance at getting things done, what happened?
Rere: I don’t know, all I can say is that I got angry and the next thing I know, I started insulting the President
Roti: and why will you do that
Rere: let just say that I am tired of people in power using innocent people to get what they want
Roti: that is funny because that is what you and I do, it is our thing
Rere: the people I blackmail are hardly innocent
Roti: so how are you going to fix it?
Rere: honestly (pause and sigh) I don’t know (then a delivery man comes to drop flowers to the secretary. The secretary picks the card is with the flower and reads it. He smiles and smells the flower. Rere looks confuse and surprise at the same time) Roti, you won’t believe what I am seeing right
Roti: what is it?
Rere: (smiling) a man is smiling over a flower, he is literally blushing
Roti: Rere, we need a plan. You don’t have time for any smiling man
Rere: I know but (the President comes .into corridor of his office and is looking at his secretary. The Secretary smiles at him and silently mouths thank you. The President smiles brightly at him before he enters his office. Rere looks more confuse) wait a minute, what just happened
Roti: what is it?
Rere: (realisation dawns on her) oh my God!
Roti: what is it Rere?
Rere: get me Richard
Roti: what?
Rere: I need Richard right now
Roti: okay (after like a minute) Richard is connected to you Rere
Richard: Ms Shapiro
Rere: Richard, can you hack into the president’s phone
Richard: (surprise) excuse me?
Roti: what are you talking about Rere?
Rere: I need some information from the president’s phone, can you get it for me
Richard: which president?
Rere: the Congo President
Roti: what are you doing Rere?
Rere: you asked me for a plan and I am giving you one. Can you do it Richard?
Richard: yes, I can but it might take me a whole week because of the distance and Nigeria network
Rere: I need the information today
Richard: even if I can find a way to get you the information you need, hacking into the president’s phone will raise a huge security alert
Rere: so you saying that there is way
Richard: yes, unless if I can get into the president phone without raising any alert
Rere: what are you talking about?
Richard: call me with the president’s phone and I will hack in that way
Rere: getting into the president’s phone is not going to be easy but (sees the secretary) if I can call you from the other suspect’s phone, that will do
Richard: what are you talking about?
Rere: I will get back to you
Roti: Rere….. (Drops the call and put her cell phone into her bag and walks towards the secretary)
Secretary: (raises his face when he sees Rere coming) the President is back
Rere: (smiling) thank you. (Pause and sigh) I need a favour from you
Secretary: what is it?
Rere: I need to call someone back home but my call is not going through, I think it is because I am in Congo. If you don’t mind, can I use your phone to call?
Secretary: sure (he hands his phone over to Rere)
Rere: (smiling) thank you so much, I really appreciate this (she walks away far away from the secretary and press some button on the phone and calls Richard who picks it almost immediately) hello Richard, this is Rere
Richard: is this the President’s number?
Rere: no but I think this will do
Richard: alright, this will take couples of minutes
Rere: be precise
Richard: between 5 to 10 minutes, it depends on the network
Rere: alright
Richard: stay on the phone and let have a conversation so that you don’t look suspicious if you are not on the phone
Rere: ahhhh, what can I say? Alright then, why did you chose to live in Nigeria of all places in the world
Richard: (chuckles) I am kind of a Nigerian
Rere: (looking surprise) really?
Richard: yeah, half Nigerian. My mom is a Nigerian and on her dying bed, she begged me to bury her in Nigeria. That was how I came to Nigeria
Rere: so you stayed?
Richard: yeah
Rere: and how did you meet Roti?
Richard: I was in a restaurant one day when a woman’s bag was stolen with her cell phone inside. So I tracked her cell phone and we got the bag back, Roti was there when this happened, so he hired me for my skills
Rere: that is one hell of a meeting
Richard: if you say so, I have access to every file and documents in this phone. I need you to tell me what you need to save time
Rere: pictures, video, call histories, messages, WhatsApp messages, Facebook messages and even emails. Things like that
Richard: alright, got it. I am sending it to your phone, you will receive the message any time from now
Rere: (Rere’s phone beep) thank you Richard
Richard: you are welcome, anytime (Rere drops the call)
