Rere Shapiro 16: This will be the end of your political career

This will be the end of your political career

INT. PRESIDENT’S OFFICE, CONGO- AFTERNOON
(Rere enters the President’s office with an envelope and the president sees her and stands up)

President: (in a loud voice) I thought I told you that I don’t want to see you agai…

Rere: (cut in sharply) before you start shouting, how about you see what I have for you (slam the envelope on his table. The president opens the envelope and checks what is on it. He turn pale) who would have thought that a fine man like you is into dudes

President: I will release the scientists

Rere: of course you will but not just that, you are going to the biggest broadcasting station in Congo and you will tell the world that President Ehosa told you about the research (The President wants to talk but she shuts him down with her finger) am not finished, you will also go further and tell Nigerians about how lucky they will be to have Nate Ehosa as their President for the second time

President: if I do that people will call me a liar

Rere: oh, you worried about been called a liar, how about been called a freak. If this gets out, your kids will be bullied in their schools, think of your wife (pretending to care) oh my God, my heart breaks for that poor woman who thinks she is the love of your life. Maybe you don’t love your wife enough to care about what she will pass through, think of that poor guy outside. I can see the love he has for you from his eyes, he won’t be able to live his life should this story gets out. Well, let say they don’t matter, think of yourself, this will be the end of your political career

President: release the story you have, I don’t care. I am not going to let you Nigerians toy with Congo

Rere: oh you think if I release this story, you will still have your way (laughing) believe me, my President is going to use this chance to persuade the members of your cabinet to overrule your decision, you will be lucky if you are not impeached. Either way you will go down in history as a laughing stock, is Congo worth sacrificing yourself and family for?

President: (sighs deeply) I will do as you asked

Rere: I want to see you on TV announcing what we just talked about in 30 minutes

President: (shocked) what? It is too early. Make it tomorrow

Rere: so that you will have time to erase every evidence I have on you, I am sorry Mr President but information is also time

President: there is no way I can pull this off in 30 minutes

Rere: then I know you are lying, you are the most powerful man in Democratic Republic of Congo. There is nothing you cannot pull off, I am sorry Mr President, and I am not going to give you a chance to wiggle your way out of this

President: how can I be sure that if I do as you asked you won’t release the story?

Rere: you don’t but when the scientists are back in Nigeria safely, you will have every damning information I have on you. (Checks her wristwatch) I better get going if I don’t want to miss my flight (she walks out of the office)
