On the road from Lagos 24: The Prison 1

INT. UNKNOWN LOCATION-UNKNOWN PERIOD

Remilekun struggles to open her eyes because of the blinding light and when she finally opens it. She sees the silhouette of a woman coming, she strains her eyes to see… when the woman finally comes closer, she sees her mom

REMILEKUN

Mom?

The woman bends to Remilekun’s level

SELMA

Remilekun

Remilekun smiles with great relief as she sees her mom

REMILEKUN

Mom I missed you so much. I missed you so much, I never thought I will see you again

Tears drops from Remilekun’s eyes as she talks, Selma untangles herself from Remilekun and wipes her tears coming from Remilekun’s eyes away

SELMA

I miss you too but you need to go

REMILEKUN

Am not going anywhere, I want to stay here with you

SELMA

No, you can’t stay here

REMILEKUN

But I want to stay here

SELMA

Wake up Remilekun, wake up

INT. UNKNOWN PRISON-UNKNOWN PERIOD

Remilekun opens her eyes to reality and she see Jamin looking down at her eyes with a bright smile on his face

JAMIN

She is awake

Remilekun pushes him away and she tries to stand on her leg but the moment she did, she feels an unimaginable pain that shoots through her leg to the other of her body, she shouts in pain and she goes back down to the floor. Femi runs to her with Cece and Oba-Abass behind him

FEMI

Let me look at you

Remilekun slaps his hands away

REMILEKUN

Leave me alone, are you a doctor?

Cece talks angryily

CECE

Yes, he is a doctor, so let him check you

FEMI

Can you move your head for me?

Remilekun moves her head left and right. Femi pinch her legs and she shouts

REMILEKUN

That hurts

FEMI

I know it does and I am happy you are in pain. You seem fine but you fractured your bone so you are going to have to see a doctor. You are lucky

REMILEKUN

Well, I don’t feel lucky

FEMI

Some people that don’t even get to the height you got to and become paralysed from the neck down when they fall, some even died, so when I say you are lucky, you should consider yourself lucky

CECE

Are you sure she is fine?

FEMI

It seems your mother here is not satisfied by my diagnosis, so (he raise four finger) how many is this?

Remilekun becomes irritated

REMILEKUN

Four and she is not my mother

CECE

I am sure he knows that, so there was no use reminding him that

Remilekun tries to move her leg and she yells in pain. Cece talks harshly to her when she is obviously worried

CECE

How about you stay put. You are obviously in pain

Remilekun takes in her environment, she looks around in confusion

REMILEKUN

Where are we?

JAMIN

In a prison

REMILEKUN

How did we get here?

JAMIN

Remember, the moving bush

REMILEKUN

Those men

OBA-ABASS

Yes those men, they abducted us

Femi brings out his phone

REMILEKUN

They didn’t take your phone

FEMI

Yes to my surprise

JAMIN

I think they didn’t collect it because there is no service

REMILEKUN

What did they want?

JAMIN

They didn’t say anything, they just came in and took Rhema

REMILEKUN

Rhema?

JAMIN

The lady you sat with

REMILEKUN

Oh….but is she going to be fine?

FEMI

We don’t know that

CECE

I didn’t know you care

REMILEKUN

I don’t care but whatever happens to her might happens to me too

Cece scoffs as she walks away to another corner to sit next to Oba-Abass

CECE

Typical Johnsons, they only care about themselves
