INT. ONE HEART HOSPITAL- EVENING

Imade opens the door to OR 4 gallery and finds Micheal standing by the wide transparent glassy screen. He opens his arms when he sees her. Imade flings her purse at him angrily and it hits him on his chest

MICHEAL

(Holding his chest) Ah oh!

IMADE

How can you do this to me, Micheal!

MICHEAL

(Jokingly) I have to ask you and when did you became so aggressive.

She move closely to him

IMADE

I specifically took you to stay away from me and you pulled this shit, when you know what is at stake. I could lose my children, Micheal

MICHEAL

(The smile on his face fades) Imade, I…

IMADE

(Agitated) I made one mistake, I slept with you. A mistake that I am going to regret for the rest of my life but is it enough for you ruin my life over

MICHEAL

IMADE

He turns to the glass screen. Imade looks through it and sees two surgeons with nurses in scrubs operating on a male toddler.

IMADE

(Confused) What am I looking at?

MICHEAL

That is Olarewaju, a year and half. Got diagnosed with tetralogy of fallot when he was two months of age and even since then he has been in and out of the hospital until the doctors recommended him for this program and now he is getting cured

IMADE

I am asking what this is, why are you here, why am I even here, what does this have to do you… or even me for that matter. What program are you taking about?

MICHEAL

Looking rattled, Imade slowly sits in silence

She stands up in a haste and walks to him

You might be okay with letting him soil our son’s memory, I can’t let him do that. He does not get to make profit from our son’s name, WAK gat to go

IMADE

Micheal, that is not what he is doing, he is truly saving people, lots of people will suffer without WAK

MICHEAL

I don’t want to talk about you husband again, I called you here to talk about Pure Heart. Can imagine what would have happened back then if Pure Heart existed for our son. An overdose, Imade, Wemimo died from an overdose from an overworked nurse. I can’t help but think, what if she was at alert, what if she was not tired, what if she had a good sleep the night before, what if she was not so stress

Imade looks away

IMADE

MICHEAL

What if there is adequate medical personnel?

IMADE

MICHEAL

And my answer to those questions is that our son will still be alive today. And then I made it my mission to save children from worthless death.

IMADE

(Snaps angrily) Enough with the what ifs, I said stop!

MICHEAL

I don’t know about you but that is truly saving people

The heart machine suddenly start beeping and their attention was draw to the operating room where the medical personnel were trying to save the little boy on the table

IMADE

What is happening? Is he dying?

MICHEAL

(Concerned) I hope not

Imade’s attention is draws back to the operating room where the lead surgeon is barking orders to the other medical personnel. She looks at Micheal who genuinely looks scared. She places her hand on his on the glass and he turns his attention to her nervously

IMADE

He is going to be okay

MICHEAL

How can you be so sure?

IMADE

(Low chuckles) I don’t know, I just believe it. Believe it too

The beeping stops

IMADE

See… (With a soft smile) Believe!

He releases a heavy sigh and chuckles brightly

MICHEAL

(Relaxes and nods gently) Thank you

IMADE

He must mean so much to you

MICHEAL

These project means so much to me, it is my son’s legacy after all. So, every child I help in his name, mean the world to me

Imade nods with a bright smile on her face, then turns her focus back to the little boy on the table whose heart is been switched up

IMADE

If they are working on his heart, how is it pumping blood?

MICHEAL

It is not, that machine over then… (Points to a machine next to the surgeons) it is called a bypass, while the doctors are working now the heart, it is pumping blood on behalf of the heart

IMADE

Wow!

The doctors hold their hands

MICHEAL

I think they are done

LEAD SURGEON

Bypass off

MICHEAL

They are taking him off bypass to see if the heart can pump blood on its own

IMADE

And if it can’t

MICHEAL

You told me to believe, so believe

The bypass is turned off and the doctor watch, waiting for the heart start working

IMADE

(Becomes anxious) the heart is not working, Micheal, it is not…

Then the heart starts to beat and there was a loud relief of happiness in the operation. Unconsciously, tear of happiness flow down Imade’s eyes as she hears the boy’s strong beating heart

LEAD SURGEON

(From the overhead speaker in the gallery) post-surgery care is going to be a bitch but this boy will get to live his full life, you did it, Micheal

Micheal presses the button of the speaker in front of him and speaks into it

MICHEAL

No, we did it. I couldn’t have done this without you my friend and your amazing team. Good job today every one, this is just the beginning

Everybody claps their hand

IMADE

You are so cool

He turns to see Imade’s tears stained face and he moves to clean her tears away

MICHEAL

Hey, are you crying?

IMADE

(In a soft voice) What you did today is so amazing, Micheal. You gave this boy a chance and because of that chance, he will get to live his full life. A life our son never got to live

MICHEAL

(Caressing her hand) Imade…

IMADE

(Her tears just keep flowing) You are right, if there was an hospital like this back then, Wemi will be alive today…. And I am sorry, if I made you feel like what you are doing is not important because it is important and thank you for doing this in his name

Micheal gently places his hands on her jaw and merge their lips together. Without hesitation, Imade responds to the kiss. Tongues rolls over each other and lips dances together as Micheal draws her into arms and pouring all of his desires into the kiss. Imade withdraws back few minutes later and stares into Micheal’s eyes lovely

IMADE

I can’t do this Micheal, not again

MICHEAL

Then tell me to stop and I will stop, Imade

Instead of stopping, the two continues their intense make out
