Rere Shapiro 21: My reasons are none of your business

My reasons are none of your business

INT. MARK MALCOLM’S OFFICE-MORNING
(Rere enters an expensive-looking office and she smiles when she saw a young American man in his early 40s stands up from his chair and walks up to her with his hands stretched)

Rere: Good morning sir

Mark: (smiling) good morning to you too. You must be the lady who has an appointment with me

Rere: yes sir. Am Rere Sh….

Mark: Shapiro

Rere: (surprise) you know who I am

Mark: of course I know who you are. There is no businessman that does not know Rere Shapiro, the legendary CEO of Shapiro Corporation who woke up one morning, resigned and suddenly disappeared

Rere: (her smile fades) I see you know me very well

Mark: you were a business icon and a role model to at least women like you that dreams of having a company one day like you did. You let them down by leaving

Rere: I own no one nothing, Mr Malcolm

Mark: please call me Mark, your brother and I are acquaintance since he decided to go into energy too. Did you know about?

Rere: what Chris decides to do with his company is no longer my business

Mark: that is right since you left the company

Rere: how about we talk about business Mark (talking sarcastically)

Mark: of course, since you are a businesswoman yourself (points to the three-seater cushion)

Rere: (she sits down as he sits opposite her) since you know how I operate, I will go straight to business

Mark: (smiling) please do

Rere: the president needs your financial assistance in the forthcoming election

Mark: you mean like to sponsor his election

Rere: yes something like that

Mark: Who are you to the president?

Rere: I am his campaign manager

Mark: oh, Rere Sha...

Rere: (cut in sharply) I don’t have time for your sarcastic comments, will you help or not?

Mark: what is in it for me?

Rere: help the president and the monopoly sales of petroleum is yours

Mark: you will give this to me and not your brother

Rere: this is a business meeting between us, leave Chris Shapiro out of it

Mark: you are not in a position to make deals with me

Rere: whatever deal I make, the president approves it

Mark: I prefer he say it to my face

Rere: alright then (she stands up) I will get you the meeting you want (she starts to walk to the door)

Mark: you know I am curious about something (Rere turns to him as he gets up) why will a woman who has the world under her feet leave the luxury and the comfort of her home to work for filthy Nigerians

Rere: my reasons are none of your business (she leaves)
