The Cain’s boys is hardly your past
(Roti is working on his computer when Esosa comes in)
Esosa: she is back
Roti: alright (he stands up and goes out of his office. He walks towards Rere’s office and sees her talking angrily to someone over the phone. He enters the office)
INT. RERE’S OFFICE-MORNING
Rere: (in a loud voice) what does he need an expansion for? He has the hotel, he has construction, he has casinos all over USA and he has a freaking fashion house, so tell me, Alice, what is the need for expansion and why oil and gas? (pause. Roti sits down on the chair facing her table) what does David have to say about this (pause) nothing, are you kidding me, nothing. So he is just going to stand and watch Chris destroy what you two built (pause) retirement my foot (pause) I know I am no longer with the company but hell will freeze over before I let Chris have his way (pause) I still have shares you know, I still have the company’s share. So tell Chris to call me before I unseat him. (Pause) I don’t know when am coming to New York (pause) I can’t tell you what I don’t know Alice (pause) you need to tell your son to stop being greedy and tell him to call me. I put him on that fucking chair, it will only take me one board meeting to unseat him (she slam the phone down and yells out loud)
Roti: that was hot
Rere: (faces him with a surprise look on her face) you are here, when did you come in?
Roti: you didn’t see me come in. Chris must have really made you angry if you did not see me
Rere: how much of that did you hear?
Roti: enough. Who is Chris and who is Alice?
Rere: Alice is my foster mom
Roti: (looking very surprise) oh!
Rere: why the surprise look?
Roti: I didn’t know you have a mom not to talk of a family. You don’t talk about them
Rere: that is because there is nothing to say
Roti: who is Chris? Your dad
Rere: no, my foster brother?
Roti: oh. What did he do?
Rere: I don’t feel like talking about it, even thinking about it makes my spirit and soul boil in anger
Roti: a problem shared is half solved
Rere: I don’t think that is the case with this situation
Roti: try me
Rere: Chris is trying to invest in oil and gas and he didn’t think to tell me
Roti: Is that why you are angry with him? because he did not tell you
Rere: no, I am angry because it is a wrong move
Roti: and why did you think so?
Rere: because he does not have the gut to face people like Mark Malcolm on the battlefield (sigh deeply) you know what I don’t want to talk about him
Roti: Chris Shapiro must be a real pain in the ass brother if you don’t want to talk about him (pause and his facial expression changes) Chris Shapiro, Chris Shapiro of Shapiro corporation is your brother (Rere looks at him in a weird way) wait a minute, Rere Shapiro oh my God, you were the former CEO of Shapiro corporation
Rere: so what?
Roti: now I see the reason why Richard said you look familiar, why didn’t you tell me?
Rere: because I didn’t see the reason to
Roti: Rere you should have told me
Rere: like I said before, I did not see it has something important to share and I still don’t. That was my life and this is my life now
Roti: why did you leave?
Rere: I don’t want to talk about it. That was my past and this is my present. You asked me not to talk about Cain’s boys again and I have respected your wishes, can you please respect mine
Roti: okay then
Rere: thank you
Roti: so how was your meeting?
Rere: he wants a sit down with the President
Roti: I told you he was supposed to see the president in the first place
Rere: and he will
Roti: (smiling) the president agreed to see him (she nods) that means he is willing to give him the monopoly
Rere: not exactly
Roti: what does that mean Rere?
Rere: it means I am handling it
Roti: alright then, so what do we do now?
Rere: we wait, they are having the meeting by 8 tomorrow morning, which we will hear their decision on or before 12 noon tomorrow
Roti: alright then (he stands up to leave)
Rere: Roti (he turns to her) about the Cain’s boys
Roti: (scowl) I thought we agreed not to talk about each other’s past
Rere: Cain’s boys is hardly your past
Roti: but you promised not to talk about it
Rere: I want to say you don’t have to do it anymore, we have stable cash flowing in
Roti: I am not doing it for just the cash
Rere: I know that, we can always find another way to get information, so you don’t have to continue if you don’t want to
Roti: but I want to
Rere: then continue (he leaves)
