Femi makes the decision to go back to the village to save Rhema along with Nimah and Jamin.
EPISODE 42
EXT. ON A PATH IN THE FOREST- NIGHT
Jamin runs through the forest with the guard on his rear, suddenly a hand pulls him into a corner. Jamin raise his hand to strike but relaxes when he sees his sister
JAMIN
Sister!
She puts a finger on his month
NIMAH
Shusssh!
She looks around
NIMAH
Let go
They both run in another direction
INT. IN FRONT OF THE PRISON-NIGHT
Femi is pinned under the guard’s body as he receives punches to his face, then suddenly the guard goes down. Femi looks surprise, then he sees the young man who helped them earlier on with a big stick in his hand. Femi looks at guard next to him and sees blood oozing out of his head
YOUNG MAN
(In Yoruba language) why are you here?
Femi talks breathing heavily
FEMI
(In Yoruba language) I came back to look for you
YOUNG MAN
I thought I told you that I will catch up
FEMI
Since you lied about your wife knowing the way, I could not wait until you decide to show up
The young man removes the key from the guard’s pocket
YOUNG MAN
How is she?
FEMI
She gave birth
The young man look up in shock
YOUNG MAN
What?
FEMI
It is a girl, congratulation
The young man laughs happily
YOUNG MAN
How is she? Is she okay? Is anything wrong with her?
FEMI
Those doctors, what did they say is wrong with your wife?
YOUNG MAN
They didn’t say anything, they just said she needs to see a doctor
FEMI
Then we better get going, for now she is fine and I will like her to stay that way
The young man quickly opens the door and they both enter to see Rhema pass out on the floor. Femi quickly goes to her and checks her pulse
YOUNG MAN
Is she alive?
FEMI
Yes
Femi shakes her but no response
YOUNG MAN
Then why is she not waking up?
FEMI
I think she fainted, it seems your wife is not the only one that needs to see a doctor
Femi carries Rhema over his shoulder and he walks out the prison with the young man behind him
EXT. ON A PATH IN THE FOREST- NIGHT
Jamin and his sister stops running to catch their breath
NIMAH
(In Hausa) I don’t think he can catch up to us again
JAMIN
Yes
Then Nimah starts to laugh, Jamin joins in. they both laugh happily. As the laughing subsides in Nimah, she sees Jamin staring at her intensely
NIMAH
What is it Jamin? Why are you looking at me like that?
Jmain smiles softly
JAMIN
I am just enjoying the moment, it has really been a long time since I have seen you laugh like that
NIMAH
Today has really been a long day and I can’t wait to tell Mama and Baba about it
JAMIN
Me too, too bad we missed Baba’s birthday
NIMAH
I am sure he will understand
JAMIN
We can still see him tomorrow
NIMAH
Baba Akeem expects me back in two days’ time. If I still go to Zaria tomorrow, I won’t make it back in two days’ time
Jamin chuckles sadly
JAMIN
That is right, Baba Akeem. I forgot that you are Baba Akeem’s plaything
Nimah looks offended
NIMAH
How can you say that to me Jamin?
JAMIN
It is not like I am lying, everything about you is Baba Akeem (becomes angry) Baba Akeem, Baba Akeem, Baba Akeem. Just when will you fight for yourself and give me back the sister I adored
The young man and Femi runs into the scene with Rhema on Femi’s shoulder. Femi clocks in the atmosphere
FEMI
Is everything okay here?
Jamin sees the young man and Rhema
JAMIN
Is she okay?
FEMI
Yes
JAMIN
Then if we have what we came for, let go
Jamin walks away while the rest follows
