Rere Shapiro 25: Oh my God Rere, you are so unbelievable.

Oh my God Rere, you are so unbelievable

INT. ROTI’S OFFICE- AFTERNOON
(Roti is working on his computer when Rere badge into his office, drops her bag on his table and starts pacing angrily)

Roti: Rere what is it?

Rere: I need you to throw Pam a bone

Roti: what kind of bone?

Rere: I want you to tell her everything that happened in Congo, I want you to tell her about the deal the President made, I want you to tell her the whole truth

Roti: (stands up) you don’t mean that Rere

Rere: oh, I do

Roti: calm down and tell me what happened, how did the meeting go? Did he agree to fund us?

Rere: yes

Roti: but?

Rere: he will only fund us if he gets to choose the VP

Roti: and the president is not willing to make that deal

Rere: he is worried that letting him chose the VP is handling Nigeria to the devil

Roti: I think he right about that, he simply doesn’t want to be Esau who sold his birthright for porridge

Rere: he wants Gexon to sponsor his election

Roti: Gexon? Are you kidding me?

Rere: he and one Olumide Ariyo thinks it is the best

Roti: (smiling) oh my God! You met Olumide Ariyo

Rere: you look pleased

Roti: he is the best campaign manager I know

Rere: good to know how you view me

Roti: it is not like that

Rere: well, where was your best campaign manager when the President needed help with passing his bill

Roti: truth be told Rere, between making a deal with Mark Malcolm and Gexon Pharmaceuticals. I think I will go for Gexon

Rere: well I don’t think so, no matter how dirty and terrible the deal is, we will always find a way out of it. We always do

Roti: what if we were not so lucky this time

Rere: we have to make sure that we are

Roti: let me try to get you straight, now that the President is not willing to go for Mark Malcolm, so you think making Pam go after him is the best course of action

Rere: I sure do, he needs to know what he is up against

Roti: (looking surprise) oh my God Rere, you are so unbelievable. You keep showing me a new and a different side of you every day (Rere’s phone rings and she keeps pacing) I can’t say this is who you are exactly (sighs) your phone is ringing you should pick (she stops and picks her phone)

Rere: it is the president

Roti: well, answer it

Rere: (she presses a button and puts the phone close to her ears) hello Mr President (pause) okay (pause for like a minute) alright (she drops the call)

Roti: so?

Rere: (smiling) he is going for Mark Malcolm

Roti: did you charm this man with juju?

Rere: I told him I quit if he wants Gexon

Roti: (chuckles softly) of course you would

Rere: (smiling) well I have ways of making people dance to my tune

Roti: well that is solved. What are you going to do about the situation? We can’t let Mark Malcolm choose our Vice-President

Rere: relaxes Roti, I have worked with the likes of Mark Malcolm. I know how they think, I know what makes they tick. So calm down, I am on top of this. We got this

Roti: well I hope for the sake of Nigeria, you are right

Rere: I am always right Roti

Roti: so why did you meet Olumide Ariyo today?

Rere: that will be because the President wants us to work together

Roti: (calmly) it is an addition

Rere: (surprise) are you kidding me?

Roti: what?

Rere: to actually think that I was so mad with the president for bringing in another person, how can you act so calm when someone else is coming to take your place? I was expecting you to throw ….

Roti: (cut in sharply) a tantrum like you would

Rere: yeah

Roti: well I am not like that. Take a look around Rere, we have a heavy workload. It will be nice to have someone to share the workload with us

Rere: just the way you don’t know me, I don’t know you too

Roti: that is all your fault

Rere: (she picks her bag) there is something else too

Roti: what is it?

Rere: Senator Audu is going to be the next Secretary of State. The President told me over the phone just now, the screening will start tomorrow

Roti: alright

Rere: I want to know everything about him

Roti: I have investigated him already, he is clean

Rere: at this point in this job, you should know that nobody is clean. Keep digging, the last thing I need is a piece of damning information popping out and destroying our plans

Roti: alright

Rere: and I need a corporate lawyer, I want the best

Roti: for what

Rere: to get us out of the deal. I need to find every loophole there is to find

Roti: a contract is involved isn’t? (Rere nods) so typical of the corporate world. I am on that too

Rere: thank you (she opens the door and leave. Roti picks the telephone)

Roti: Esosa, tell Richard to see me
