As you ladyship pleases

INT. RERE’S OFFICE- MORNING
(Rere is in her office working on her PC when Roti comes into her office)

Roti: have you seen the news?

Rere: (without looking at his face) what is popping?

Roti: Senator Audu is getting inaugurated

Rere: (stands up gently with a sheet of paper) why should I watch that bastard get the position he does not deserve (she goes out of her office and Roti follows her. She walks to a lady that is working on the computer. She stretches the sheets of paper to her) please help me photocopy this

Lady: (stands up and collects it) yes ma’am

Roti: so who do you think deserves the position?

Rere: (walking away from the lady and Roti follows her) Diekola of course

Roti: (smiling) if I don’t know better, I would have said you have a kind heart

Rere: this is not about having a kind heart, this is about who deserve something (she opens the door to a room that looks like a kitchen)

INT. SHAPIRO AND BELLO, KITCHEN- MORNING

Rere: I know she worked hard to get to where she is today and has definitely worked hard for the position I took from her (opens the fridge and takes two cans of chilled coke. She hands one to Roti, uncork one for herself and takes a gulp)

Roti: let say you knew about what Senator Audu did before, would you have recommended him for the position?

Rere: yes, I would because we needed him

Roti: (smiling as he uncorks his own coke) so you feel pity for Diekola because of what you did to her but you would still take it from her if it happens all over again

Rere: I don’t pity her

Roti: so what do you call what you doing now? Praising her? (He takes a gulp form his drink)

Rere: I don’t pity her because I have something else in store for her

Roti: (curious) what is that?

Rere: you will find out with time (she starts to walk to the door)

Roti: (runs to the door and blocks it with his body) tell me what you have in store for Diekola. I want to know about it now and not find out with time. We are partners remember

Rere: alright then, I want her to be the Vice President

Roti: (surprised) what?

Rere: yes

Roti: (gaining his composure) do you think it is going to work? I mean she is a woman, there will be strong opposition

Rere: before she became a politician, she was a human right activist and a badass one at that. In the Senate, she is active and no man can ride her, so she is perfect

Roti: like I said there will be a strong opposition within the party

Rere: if the President wins which he will, their opposition will mean nothing because the president likes Diekola and will love to have her as his vice president

Roti: have you told him yet?

Rere: no, I plan to tell him when I get him out of that deal

Roti: and where are we on the deal? Your lawyer, has he found a way?

Rere: no he has not but he will, so I need you…..

Roti: (cut in sharply) to find me everything on Diekola, I want to know her strength and weakness. What makes her ticks and who she sleeps with (smiling) those kind of things?

Rere: (chuckles) will you do that for me please?

Roti: as you ladyship please (he bows down. Rere hits his back playfully as he moves from the door and Rere walks out but turns back suddenly)

Rere: lest I forget, I am going to meet some people with the president in Kano so you will be going to meet the South-West governors alone

Roti: do you think that is a good idea? Don’t you think they will feel unimportant if you don’t show up as planned?

Rere:  you are going to be there aren’t you and if I remember clearly you were with me at our last meeting, so you know everything

Roti: but still, this is a delicate meeting, you are trying to make them turn against Bashorun, the man who put them in their position, you not showing up as planned may turn the tables in a bad direction

Rere: I know that but I have no choice, I am sending you into this meeting because I know you can handle it

Roti: but still ….

Rere: (cut in sharply) there is no but, stop acting like a chicken and make me proud

Roti: Rere!

Rere: I got you your ticket, it is on your table

Roti: are you kidding me? You got me a ticket and you didn’t think to tell me

Rere: (smiling) I am telling you now, your flight leaves in two hours

Roti: What!

Rere: strike it, I got it about 50 minutes ago, so it leaves in an hour and 10 minutes

Roti: you are so…I don’t know (he hastily walks away from her)

Rere: (smiling) love you
