Nigeria justice system is corrupt and faulty

INT. PRESIDENT’S OFFICE- MORNING
(Inside the president office, the President is in a meeting with Rere, Ariyo, and Diekola. The President’s shirt is rolled up and Rere sits on the floor sipping champagne from glass cup)

Diekola: (throws chips into her mouth) what about subsidised education?

Rere: subsidized education is something that cannot work

Diekola: and why do you say that?

Rere: because there is no way in hell that education can be cheap. Maybe the president find a way to subsidize it, the next president after you might not see it that way and everything goes right back to normal. Education is meant to be expensive

Nate: so what agenda do you think we should use?

Rere: what about fair justice?

Nate: fair justice?

Rere: yes, we all know that Nigeria justice system is corrupt and faulty. 60% of criminals in Nigeria prisons are innocent, thousands of Nigerians lose case that they should have won due to lack of evidence. Promise them that you will look into that and they will run to your side

Diekola: that is new (smiling) and I like that Mr President and since we are both advocate of law, we can pull that off

Nate: alright, we have agenda one. Any other agendas

Ariyo: what about gender equality?

Rere: (chuckles) that is a great idea Mr president and you can pull that off with senator Diekola by your side. You are showing the people that you are practising what you want to do. That way they will believe you

Diekola: agenda number two set, any other one agenda?

Nate: modernized agriculture, I wanted to do that in this tenure but could not

Rere: that is a good idea Mr president and it is realistic

Diekola: any other one?

Nate: I think these three is enough, before I can get the Senate to approve this agendas. It is going to take a long time, so three is enough, (he stands up and walks to his desk) I am going to be presenting the agendas to the party executives tomorrow, I want you all there

Diekola: we will be

INT. ALEX’S BEDROOM, ABUJA- MORNING
(Rere sits on a stool in a room doing her make-up while looking at her reflection in the mirror, Alex comes into the room and goes straight to the bed to pick his phone)

Alex: (turns to Rere) I want you to have lunch with me today

Rere: (surprise) lunch?

Alex: yes, I want you to meet my friends over lunch

Rere: (looking confuse) which friends?

Alex: my college friends

Rere: are they in town?

Alex: yes, I forgot to tell you. They came in two days ago to help me on a class action suit

Rere: which company are you suing? (No response) which company are you suing?

Alex: I am not telling you that

Rere: (turns on the stool to Alex) you know if I want to know, I will find out

Alex: yes I know that you can find out from other sources but you are not finding out from me (Rere chuckles) so what do you say about lunch?

Rere: (turns back to the mirror) I don’t know about that

Alex: (walks towards her) Rere please (sits at the edge of the bed close to her)

Rere: (turns on the stool to face Alex) I am busy, you know that

Alex: yes I do but once we start the case, we won’t have time to eat three square meal. Please do this for me

Rere: as much as I will like to do that, I can’t. The President, your father is presenting his election agendas to the party executives today, I can’t afford to miss it

Alex: (looking at her with a loving face) please I know you are busy, my friend wants to meet the woman who won my heart. I just need 20, no just 10 minutes of your time

Rere: you need to stop looking at me like that

Alex: this look is my triumph look, with this look, I can get everything I want from you

Rere: not this time Alex

Alex: (with more intensity) please, please Rere

Rere: alright (in a loud voice) alright, I will find a way to squeeze you into my already squeezed schedule. Is 1pm fine with you?

Alex: yes, thank you (smiling and he gives her a quick kiss) see you later (he stands and grabs his bag)

Rere: you know you are one hell of a manipulative husband

Alex: (smiling) am I? I didn’t know that

Rere: really Alex?

Alex: (smiling brightly) I love you (he leaves)

Rere: love you too (and she continues her make up)
