(Rere and Roti sits in a conference room with six men that are nicely dressed in different ankara attire)
Rere: so how much are you bringing to the table (one of the men write something on a sheet of paper and pass it to Rere. She looks at it and pass it to Roti)
Roti: (he looks so shock when he sees it) this is a shit ton of money
1st Man: we mean business
Roti: but you want something in return?
Rere: of course they want something in return, what you should ask them is what they want. (Faces the men) so what do you want you want in return?
2nd man: the President should drop Diekola and make Ameberu is running mate
Rere: (bursts into laughter) now that is what I call political murder
1st man: I don’t see it like that
Rere: Ameberu made his decision when he decided to go head to head with the President, he has no place in the President’s next administration. Moreover the President needs Diekola
3rd man: the President either takes Ameberu or we are out
Rere: I know what you guys are doing, you want to control the President but you are going about it the wrong way
2nd man: so what is the right way?
Rere: how about I make you this deal, you work for the President and you get to choose one minister each in the President’s next administration
3rd man: (looking surprise) one minster each?
Rere: yes, in any ministry you want, that way, you get to keep an eye on the President
1st man: the President will see through it and he will never agree
Rere: how about you leave the President to me, I will make it happen (sees that they look unconvinced) this is a good deal Governors, if you work for the President, the President wins the second time and you get to control him the way you want, it is a win-win
4th man: our money is worth more than what you are bringing to the table
Rere: with or without your money, I am making Nate Ehosa The President for the second time. So it is up to you to be on the winning team (one of the governors sighs)
Roti: you all went against Bashorun, so there is no way out for you here, you either work for us or Bashorun comes for you in full force
4th man: (faces Roti) are you saying that we made a wrong choice going against Bashorun
Rere: what he is saying is to let us help not to regret your decision because if you don’t, you will regret your decision
1st man: there is no difference between what you both said
Rere: maybe there isn’t
2nd man: alright, we will take this deal if you agree to work Ameberu in the next election
Roti: isn’t it too early, I mean the forthcoming election has not even taken place
4th man: it isn’t too early
Rere: it is a deal
3rd man: (The Governors smiles) we have ourselves a deal here gentlemen (the chef comes in)
Chef: your dinner is ready
2nd man: bring it in (the chef leaves)
Rere: (looks shock) oh my God, lunch!
1st man: (looking confuse) are you okay
Rere: yes I am (dips her hand into the bag and brought out her phones. She presses a button and sees over 20 missed calls from Alex, Exclaims) shit! (faces the governors as she stands up) I am sorry gentlemen I need to make some calls (she leaves the room in a hurry and goes to a quiet corner. She dials Alex’s number)
Alex: hello
Rere: Alex I am so sorry
Alex: (talking with an unpleasant voice) for what exactly? Are you sorry that you bailed on me with my friends today or are you sorry because you left Abuja without telling me?
Rere: I completely forgot
Alex: that you have a husband
Rere: Alex it is not like that
Alex: then what is it like Rere (his voice becomes hard and loud) because you promised me this morning that you will eat lunch with me and my friends and not only did you forget that, you left Abuja without telling me
Rere: I am sorry
Alex: that is all you ever say, you are sorry
Rere: that is all I can say (her voices becomes loud) what else do you want me to say?
Alex: you know what, have a nice time wherever you are (he ends the call)
Rere; (shouting on top of her voice) Alex, Alex (she squats down as Roti walks to her)
Alex: are you okay? (Rere looks up to him) the Governors are worried about you, is everything all right?
Rere: no everything is not alright Roti, nothing is fine between us (she stands up) you don’t talk to me anymore unless it is work related, we don’t relate like we used to. What happened to us Roti?
Roti: what were you expecting when there is no trust between us anymore?
Rere: (looking confuse) no trust? I trust you Roti
Roti: but I don’t trust you anymore
Rere: what?
Roti: there is so much about you that I don’t know. Your past, why you came back to Nigeria, why you married Alex Ehosa and why Nate Ehosa must become the president of this nation for the second time. You keep too may secret about yourself
Rere: there is nothing there is to know that you don’t know already
Roti: cut the bullshit Rere, you and I both know that there is more to mere seen eye. If you want me to relate with you like before, you are going to tell me everything I need to know
Rere: like I said before, there is nothing that you need to know that you don’t know already
Roti: (looking disappointed) well I guess our current relationship will continue
Rere: Roti!
Roti: the Governors are waiting for you, don’t stay out too long (he leaves while Rere rubs her eyes in frustration)

ReplyDeleteOkay, but on what grounds did you make that conclusion? To some people, her willingness to do anything just simply mean her commitment and loyality to the President. She did promise the President to go far and beyond when it comes to making him the President again when she was making her pitch to be his campaign manager
DeleteThe actual question should be why she is so eager and willing. I mean she is definitely not after the money as mentioned a few times. If it was she had better offers from different persons

Let look at this very carefully, the only reason why Nate is the presidency candidate of his party is because she will do anything for him even at the risk of her own marriage. And this is the only reason why she is getting better offers from other people. What I am trying to say is that before she can be the best, she has to be eager and willing to do anything

ReplyDeleteHello am Lekan. I agree with Taiwo on this issue. Let look at the President from the beginning, he is someone that his party has turned their back against him with no hope of help anywhere and I think the reason why Rere decided to work for him is because his case is a challenge . There is no way she can help a man like that without been eager and willing to do unspeakable things. She is a risk taker and that is why she is getting better offers. She won't get those better offer if she decided to work for Senator Ameberu the way Roti wants. Even this applies to our world, you can't be the best if you decide to take the easy way out. And a part of her is in for the money, she is not working for free
