I won’t forget for the world
(Rere is seen driving through the streets of Abuja in tears. As she keeps cleaning the tears, another rolls down her eyes)
FLASH BACK- 25 YEARS AGO
INT. AGBAJE, EHOSA & FABOJU LAW FIRM - AFTERNOON
(Nine years old Rere opens the door to an office in her school uniform where a woman in her fifties is tying on her computer)
Rere: (smiling) good afternoon, Mrs Johnson
Johnson: (smiling) good afternoon little
Barbie, how was school today?
Rere: It was fine (then she hears two people’s voice coming from the door on her left, then she turns to Mrs Johnson meekly) are they fighting?
Johnson: no, they just have a little disagreement
Rere: about what?
Johnson: it is adult stuff, you don’t have to worry yourself about it (Rere turns toward the door but Mrs Johnson quickly leaves her seat to stop her) you can’t go in there
Rere: (shyly) but I need to tell second daddy about my birthday tomorrow so that he will bring Alex and Bridget
Johnson: you will tell him when he comes out, okay?
Rere: okay (Mrs Johnson leads her to the seat next to her. Few minutes later, Mrs Johnson receives a call, then turns to Rere)
Johnson: stay right here, I am coming (Rere nods, the moment Mrs Johnson leaves, she runs to the door and opens. She enters and close the door quietly, the two man who appears to be in their late thirties didn’t notice Rere’s entry)
Oluremi: (at the top of his voice) what the hell is wrong with you?
Nate: all I am asking you to do is drop her as our client
Oluremi: well I am not doing that
Nate: don’t you see the bigger picture here, this is a chance for you to get close to Bashorun and get his endorsement to be the next Attorney General of this state. This is the start of your political career, why are you not taking this deal?
Oluremi: if it involve me taking a shitty deal, I am not interested
Nate: it is not shitty, like I said all you have to do is drop her as your client
Oluremi: (in a loud voice) I promised this woman that I will get her the justice she deserve
Nate: this is a rape case, what she needs is a criminal defence Attorney not a corporate Attorney
Oluremi: well, I made the promise already and I am not going back on my promise
Nate: you are….
Oluremi: (notices Rere) Lolu, when did you get here?
Rere: (runs to hug her dad) just now (then she hugs Nate)
Nate: (bends to her level) how was school today little Barbie (smiling)
Rere: it was fine
Nate: good (he stands up) I will leave you two but we are not done with this conversation
Oluremi: oh yes we are done (Nate turns to leave)
Rere: don’t forget my birthday tomorrow
Nate: I won’t forget for the world little Barbie (he leaves)
