(Alex and Arin are in his office talking)
Alex: you should drop him
Arin: well he is the only witness I have got
Alex; then find another one, even if you want to use him, you need another strong witness. He is an ex-convict, no jury will believe what he has to say. Your case will be thrown out even before it get to the Judge
Arin; well no other staff is willing testify for the fear of losing their job
Alex: you are smart Arin, find a way to make them testify (his phone rings) hello (pause) oh my God Alice, how are you (pause then he smiles) you are kidding me right? (Pause) you are in Nigeria (pause) that is a great news, where should I meet you (pause) I will meet you there in an hour thank you (he drops the call with a big smile on his face)
Arin: who is Alice? A new girlfriend?
Alex: (scoff) are you kidding me?
Arin; well who is she?
Alex: do you remember my family friend that her father died years ago
Arin: Lolu Agbaje?
Alex; yes, Alice is her foster mom and I contacted her last month about the case am building up for Okunla. Right now she is in Nigeria
Arin; (her smile fades) are you still working on Rere’s case?
Alex: of course I am
Arin: (angry) what is wrong with you Alex, after everything that bitch did to you if there is even going to be a case, it should be a divorce case
Alex: well there won’t be one
Arin: Alex, she killed your child
Alex: yes I know that but she didn’t just kill my child, she killed her own child too. She must be hurting as well too, maybe even more than I am hurting
Arin: so what?
Alex: it means she needs help Arin
Arin: and you think the help she needs is solving her father’s murder case
Alex: yes because it will bring her the closure she needs and after that is over I will get her the help she need, even if it means seeing a shrink
Arin: unbelievable
Alex: I know you think I am crazy
Arin: of course you are
Alex: maybe I am but spending this last two months without her is like as if my heart was yank out of my chest but I need her to learn her lesson
Arin: (looking frustrated) I am going to go get the witness I need (she turns to leave)
Alex: Arin?
Arin: (turns back to him) mark my word, that woman will be the death of you
