Two years later
(Rere sits in the restaurant working on her PC. She brings a cigarette stick, lights it and she starts smoking. A waiter walks to her)
Waiter: ma’am you can’t smoke in here
Rere: oh, I am sorry (she drops the stick on the floor and she kills it with her shoe)
Waiter: what can I get you?
Rere: for now nothing, I will call you when I need something
Waiter: you can’t stay here until then, we need the table
Rere: how about I pay for the table, will that do? (The waiter nods) good (but the waiter did not leave) is there something else?
Waiter: do you know that smoking is bad for your health?
Rere: (smiling) yes I know, thank you (the waiter leaves, Rere smiles warmly and goes back to her work. After few minutes, she looks up and sees Roti looking at her. She looks so surprise) Roti?
Roti: hello Rere
Rere: what are you doing here?
Roti: to see you
Rere: I mean how did you find me?
Roti: my friend working at the airport told me about your arrival into Nigeria yesterday
Rere: (smiling) I see you still have your sources
Roti: (smiles) that is the business, isn’t it?
Rere: please sit (Roti sits) it is nice to see you again Roti
Roti: nice? It is wonderful to see you too
Rere: how is work?
Roti: Ameberu is getting a lot of opposition, but we are getting a handle of it
Rere: Ameberu?
Roti: yes, why are you so surprised?
Rere: I promised Ajibola that we will work for him
Roti: I know that, he is the biggest opposition I have (Rere chuckles) so how have you been Rere, I searched for you but I could not find you. I had to hope that one day you will come back to Nigeria
Rere: hence your friend at the airport
Roti: (laughs) yes you have no idea how much I am paying to get update about you
Rere: am I that important for you to waste your money on?
Roti: (his smile fade) yes you are that important. The last time I saw you was in my office when you told me you are going back to Alex which was two years ago, so what have you been doing since then?
Rere: I was travelling around the world
Roti: yes
Rere: I visited so many country, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Cuba, Mexico, so many other countries. It was nice travelling round the world
Roti: so is there another man?
Rere: yes and his name is Carlos
Roti: (smiling) oh I didn’t pin you as a woman that will sleep with a Mexican
Rere: actually he is Cuban
Roti: oh, so when are we going to hearing wedding bells?
Rere: not soon because I broke up with him before I came to Nigeria
Roti: how is Alex?
Rere: I don’t know
Roti: you didn’t try to find him
Rere: I saw no point in it
Roti: you should find him Rere, only he can fill the hole that you have in heart
Rere: hole in my heart?
Roti: yes, isn’t that the reason why you are running around, you are looking for your happiness that only Alex can give, you should find him
Rere: isn’t it too late for that, am sure he would have moved now
Roti: you don’t know that
Rere: what I do know is that (passes a flyer to him) Asia is the next continent I want to visit. I am thinking of going to South Korea first. Maybe try out some of their food, Jajjamyeong for example
Roti: (places) alright, if you won’t find Alex, then come back to work. You would have your old position back. I will really use your help with Ajibola
Rere: I don’t think so
Roti: come on Rere, it will be like old times
Rere: I am done with the life of a blackmailer
Roti: then find Alex please, for your own sake
Rere: (smiling brightly) do you remember this place?
Roti: (looking around strangely) what about this place (his facial changes when realisation dawns on him) this was where you recruited me six years ago
Rere: (she nods with a bright smile on her face) the fun part of my life was working with you and it still is
Roti: (chuckles) the feeling is highly mutual
Rere: then buy me a drink like old times sake?
Roti: okay (in a loud voice)
(THE WHITE WOMAN’s voice comes in from the background)
INT. PLANE- UNKNOWN
THE WHITE WOMAN: shit, shit (she flings the book to the feet of the black woman)
THE BLACK WOMAN: (surprise) what is wrong?
THE WHITE WOMAN: it is just too sad, I mean she just lost Alex for nothing, she didn’t get the revenge she wants. Why is she not looking for Alex and even when she finds him, what is the assurance that he has not moved on with another woman?
THE BLACK WOMAN: (she pick the book up from her feet) are you sure you don’t want to continue this book, you seem to have a lot of question
THE WHITE WOMAN: please read the last page to me, I feel too sad to read it myself, so please read it to me
THE BLACK WOMAN: okay (she clears her voice) it took Rere one year before she finally found Alex in Hawaii.
EXT. SOMEWHERE IN HAWAII- EVENING
(Rere sits in a car as she watches Alex come out of a building called Ehosa and Ehosa law firm. Alex enters his car and drives away, Rere follows him in her own car to a house far from the city and close to the beach. She sees a woman walk toward Alex as he gets out of his car. Rere looks closer and recognises the woman as Arinola and she is pregnant. She walks towards Alex and kiss him on the mouth before hugging him. Alex holds her tight as he smiles like he has no problem in the world before they finally walk into their house. Rere sees this and she burst into tears
